Not Impressed

A package arrived today containing belated Feast Day gifts for James as well as a small package for Margaret. James opened his presents and then I handed Margaret her package. Henry was finding this very hard to handle. He knew that James was getting gifts because it had been his Feast Day. But why was Margaret getting a gift as well? And where was the gift for him?

That changed pretty quickly after Margaret opened her gift, which was a cute Christmas dress. "Oh, that's not a gift," stated Henry. "That's just a dress."

Balance and fairness was once again restored to the household.

Margaret is well protected.

Henry walks up to Margaret wearing a clone trooper mask and carrying a lightsaber.

"Hello Margaret. I am Henry. I am here to rescue you from boys and... bushes. I have your brothers right outside."

Happy Pilgrims!

These Pilgrims are so happy that I almost wish I was on that Mayflower with them!

Favorite Things

Some kids start their school day by doing a weather chart or putting a number on the calendar. Henry starts his school day by adding an item to his "Henry's Favorite Things" list. He got the idea from a Magic Tree House Book where Jack makes a list of his favorite things. Everyday, Henry tells me one or two things to add to his list. Here is his list so far: If you don't see all that you are expecting, don't worry. We have 123 days left in this school year.

Star Wars, Star Wars, Everywhere

If anyone was wondering what the kids are into lately, the answer is two words: Star Wars. Even Margaret can be heard "Da, DA... Da-da-da-dada"ing around the house as she sings the Star Wars theme song. Here is a little photo tribute to all the ways Star Wars makes its way into our lives. And if you were wondering how many times a five year old can ask if his $10 gift card will buy the Lego Death Star between the house and Walmart, the answer is 8 times in 12 minutes. Here is a rebel base.
Here is the place that Hans Solo got captured in The Empire Strikes Back. "Mama, do you know what I wish we could buy but I know that we can't? The Lego Death Star."

A clone trooper.

A Tie-Fighter.

An X-Wing Fighter. "Do you know what I really wish that we could buy? The Lego Death Star!"

Another X-Wing Fighter. "Mama? Do you know what I think is the neatest Lego thing? The Lego Death Star." "Okay, Isaac. No more talk about the Lego Death Star."

"Mama? Do you know what I would buy if I had a million dollars?"
"Isaac. No Death Star talk."
"Oh yeah. Nevermind."

Reading about Star Wars.

A Star Wars ship.

Double trouble Star Wars.

A Big Preview

Because Michael leaves for Mississippi tomorrow, and the thought of correctly dressing four children for Trick or Treating alone scares me, I thought I would post these photos of the kids all dressed up for the Boy Scout Halloween party on Tuesday. That way, if I don't even find the camera on Halloween, no one will miss out on the cuteness!Henry wore his costume for about 15 minutes.
Saint Patrick.

Cuteness in a kimono from one of my Mama's trips to Japan.

Saint James without the staff, bag, or water bottle. He looks so handsome!

Saint Patrick won Best Costume at the Halloween Party. Yeah Isaac!
